At Curvylicious, we want you to find the bra that fits you perfectly. Unfortunately, there is no exact science for doing this and using the good old measuring tape can often be deceiving. Instead we can advice you what the perfect fitting bra should look like and what could be wrong if yours doesn't fit the bill.
And please feel free to contact us if you would like some additional fitting advice or have any queries. We're Curvylicious girls ourselves so we know the importance of having a bit of support. But don't forget, if you want to try a few bras for size we offer free delivery for all orders over £40.00 and are happy to exchange or refund items(subject to conditions) no questions asked.
THE PERFECT FITTING BRA
If you stand in front of the mirror in your favourite bra this is what it should look like.
Front
- The centre front will sit flat against the body.
- Any underwire sits flatly against the rib cage and shouldn't dig in or rub.
- Breasts should be completely enclosed in the bra cups. There should be no ridges or bulging over the top or sides even if you are wearing a plunge or balcony bra.
- Underwire should follow the natural crease of the breast.
Back
- Bra straps should be parallel or slightly v shaped.
- Band should be level all the way around your back and shouldn't ride up.
- The underband should fit snugly against the chest.
- Straps should feel firm but comfortable and never dig into the shoulders.
If your current bra fits you as above, then well done, you are wearing the right size, but styles and makes do vary so you may sometimes need a bigger/smaller size bra depending on the style. At Curvylicious we try to give as much information in the descriptions of our bras, to assist you in your choice.
If your current size bra doesn't quite fit perfectly then you're in good company. According to surveys, 8 out of 10 British women are wearing the wrong bra size. These are the common problems
SIGNS THAT YOUR BACK SIZE IS TOO BIG
This is one of the most common problems and means you won't be getting the necessary support from your bra.
- Bra rides up at the back.
- Straps dig into your shoulders.
- Bra moves around as you do.
Try a smaller back size, but remember that the cup size will also be correspondingly smaller and you'll need to try a bigger cup size to get the same coverage. eg- if you go down a back size from a 38E to a 36 and the cup fitted you well, it's probably best to try a 36F.
SIGNS THAT YOUR CUP SIZE IS TOO SMALL
- Spilling out of the top of your bra.
- Wires digging in under your arms.
- Centre front pulling and lifting away from the body
Try one cup size bigger so that the underwire lies flat and the cup gives sufficient coverage.
SIGNS THAT YOUR CUP SIZE IS TOO BIG
- Bra cups are wrinkled. Material not fitting smoothly.
- Bra cup is baggy.
Try one cup size smaller for a smoother fit.
SWIMWEAR AND ACCESSORIES
Swimsuit sizing is based on your back size, EG- a 36DD is a standard dress size 14.
For Bikini bottoms and briefs order the size that corresponds with your usual dress size.
